Tutorial 1: Make G-Spark walk
You will make: a short costume animation that repeats while the project runs. You will use Flipbook/Onion skin and four blocks: when flag clicked, forever, next costume and wait (0.1) seconds.
Part A — Make the walking poses
- Open G-Warp and select G-Spark in the sprite list. Open Costumes.
- Keep the original costume as a backup. Duplicate it to make a second costume, then change the arm or leg angle a little. Duplicate again for a third pose. Make each pose only slightly different so the movement looks smooth.
- Rename the copies in a clear order such as
walk 1,walk 2, andwalk 3. Check that they appear in that order in the costume list. - Open the paint editor for a pose and click Onion skin in the bottom bar. The previous/next costume can appear faintly behind your drawing as a guide. The faint guide is an overlay; it should not be saved into the costume.
- Use the Play control below the costume list to preview the costumes flipping in order. If the feet or arms jump too far, edit the pose and preview again.
Part B — Make it repeat with blocks
- Open Code and choose Events. Drag
when flag clickedinto an empty part of the workspace. - Choose Control and snap
foreverunderneath the hat block. - Inside
forever, addnext costumefrom Looks, then addwait (0.1) secondsfrom Control under it.
when flag clicked forever next costume wait (0.1) seconds
Test it
- Click the Green Flag/Start control. G-Spark should keep changing costumes.
- Change the wait number: a smaller delay looks faster, a larger delay looks slower. Press Stop when you are done.
- Save the project, switch away from Costumes and back, then reopen the saved copy to make sure the poses remain.
Gotcha: next costume follows the costume-list order and cycles around. If the walk looks backward or jumps, reorder or redraw the poses before changing more blocks.
